Amen

Have we really discussed the definitions of the word ‘Amen’? Let’s look now. Amen can mean different things for different situations. For example, the most commonly used is ‘so be it’ or ‘truly’, as to end something or rest assured on what is or what was spoken. What about the other uses of ‘verily’ or ‘but’ as to stop or shift from what it appears to be to give room for more or greater possibilities? What about the meaning of displaying ‘surety’ and ‘faithfulness’ in whom we serve that we trust the Father knowing all is well and be as He sees fit?

If for a moment we just decided to say Amen despite our circumstances and situations, what might it change? What if we decided to react with a genuine Amen instead of ramping up our emotions and worries? What would happen? Knowing the definition now we can simply say ‘Amen’ knowing that we are not settling on letting it be, but instead indicating the ‘surety’ in the Father knowing He will do it, literally shifting it from the normal response because of what we see, to a move of faith knowing the Father has it, coming to the conclusion that it is ‘truly’ or ‘so be it’…Amen.

“Now the God of peace [be] with you all. Amen” Romans 15:33.
